Biography

Maud Paquis' musical ascent took off during the year 2020, marked by a lockdown conducive to creation. It was on the occasion of the Proxima project, within the prestigious concert hall "les docks" in Lausanne, that the young Franco-Swiss musician took her first steps on stage. From this experience was born her first EP, "Morphée", whose compositions, on the border of jazz, pop, and French song, seduced an increasingly numerous audience.

In September 2022, Maud Paquis felt an ever-stronger call towards jazz, she then created the "Maud Paquis Quintet", a formation where she is joined by Samuel Goupil on drums, Lennart Schandl on electric bass, Robert Soltermann on tenor saxophone, and Maurice Ruf on guitar. All four met during their jazz studies at EJMA in Lausanne or HKB in Bern.

Inspired by artists such as Camille Bertault, Michel Legrand, or Cecile Mc Laurin Salvant, Maud Paquis is now resolutely part of the Francophone jazz tradition, with a new approach that explores the multiple nuances of this musical genre.

Winner of the audience award at the ZKB Jazz Preis at Moods (Zürich), Maud Paquis has already performed on numerous important stages of the Swiss jazz landscape such as the Cully Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Festival da Jazz in St. Moritz, and during the Langnau Jazz Nights. All this without counting her appearances on recognized pop stages such as Docks, Fri-Son, Balélec, or in concert on la 1ère.

Maud Paquis has finished recording her first album "Circé", which she entirely wrote, composed, arranged, and produced.
