Biography

Born in 1988, Charles Fréchette is a musician and composer originally from Montreal, Canada. A professional musician since 2004, Charles is known primarily as a guitarist but also as a composer, singer, mandolinist, and Jazz pedagogue. This virtuoso musician has acquired international renown during monumental tours totaling more than 600 concerts in over 30 countries, notably with his group Tcha-Badjo.
Charles has also won several competitions and awards such as jazz guitar scholarships from the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2011 and 2012 as well as the Montreal Guitar Grand Prize 2012. A graduate of 7 years of Jazz studies at the University of Montreal and Cégep de Drummondville, Charles returned to studies in 2018 at the HEMU in Lausanne to complete a master's in teaching with the aim of eventually sharing his knowledge and experience as a conservatory professor.
Parallel to his career as a professional musician, Charles has also been the director and programmer of the performance hall of l’Auberge des Vergers in Meyrin since 2018.
Currently residing between Lausanne and Berlin, Charles plays regularly with his projects Tcha-Badjo, Echoes of Django, Samy Daussat & 12th Street Rag as well as alongside artists like Tcha Limberger, David Boulanger, Giacomo Smith, Sebastien Giniaux, Antoine Boyer, Bina Coquet, Les Poissons Voyageurs and several others.
